John A. Ruble, 63, of State College died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Juniper Village at Brookline.
Born June 16, 1951 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Donald A. and Alice (Hess) Ruble.
He attended the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy, and then worked as a police officer for Ferguson Township. He later transferred to the road crew department where he became road crew manager. In 1993 he became the Facility Manager at the Centre Medical Sciences Building, where he worked until December 2013, leaving due to illness. He also worked in the Press Box as Penn State Security during home games for many years prior to 2011.
John was a life member of the NRA and a former member of the Philipsburg Road and Gun Club.
In his earlier years he belonged to the Civil Air Patrol of PA, The Penn State Composite Squadron on the Ranger Team. He assisted in over thirty aircraft search and rescue missions.
John enjoyed military and aviation history, collecting guns, and hunting, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his dog Lemon.
He is survived by a son, Justin D. Ruble (Arushi) of Boalsburg, a daughter, Jami Ruble (and her fiance Brent Brooks), a sister, Nona Klinefelter of Runville and his beloved dog, Lemon.
Visitation will be held 10 AM -noon, Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services , 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A memorial service will follow at Noon at the funeral home with the Reverend Larry Louder officiating. Entombment will follow in Centre County Memorial Park.
