Obituary

John W. Dashem Jr. 67, of Centre Hall, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at his home at Centre Hall, surrounded by, and in the care of his family.
Junior was born September 7, 1944, in Bellefonte, a son of the late John W. Dashem Sr. and Geraldine Dutrow Dashem.
On December 15, 1968 he married Lucille A. Wertz who survives at home.
He was a 1962 graduate of Penns Valley High School and in 1965 earned the American Farmer's Degree through The Future Farmers of America Program.
Mr. Dashem farmed in Centre County all his life, and was devoted to farm life values and the preservation of the family farm.
He was a member of the Penns Valley Beef Club serving as an assistant leader, and served as a leader in the woodworking program in 4-H. While a member of Progress Grange in Centre Hall, he served as treasurer for one year. Among the things he enjoyed most were woodworking, collecting trains, fishing when he had time, and tractor pulls. His real pleasure and pride was attending the 4-H events and tractor pulls his son was involved in.
He is survived by one son Howard W. Dashem and his wife Jessica of Centre Hall, two grandchildren, Justin Taylor and Felecha Marie Dashem and two step grandchildren, Alex Taylor Gunsalles and Howard Ray Lowe.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Covalt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, W. Church St. Centre Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Lucille A. Dashem 227 Williams Road, Centre Hall, PA 16828, to assist in defraying medical and funeral expenses.
