John Edward Walters Jr. 28, of Julian, died Friday, May 23, 2008, in Binghamton, NY.
He was born September 18, 1979, in Lock Haven, PA, a son of John Edward Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Comly Walters who survive in Julian.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Heather Trigg (Jim), and Crystal Walters both of Bellefonte, and Dana Conklin (Joe) of Pleasant Gap; three nieces, Emily, Samantha and Hannah Trigg all of Bellefonte; a nephew Atticus Conklin of Pleasant Gap; and his paternal grandmother, Ellen Walters of Bellefonte.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Blaine and Betty Comly and his paternal grandfather Norman D. Walters.
John attended Bellefonte Area High School where he played football and wrestled; and attended Centre County Vocational Technical School, training in heavy equipment and welding.
A person of varied interests and skills, he enjoyed working on local dairy farms, doing landscape work and automotive repair. He was currently employed as the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.
John was a member of FFA, Boy Scouts, and the Gold Bullets 4-H Club. He later served as a counselor for 4-H Camp, and was a member of the Centre County Council, the Centre County 4-H Dairy Goat Club, the Centre County Chevon Producers Club, the Centre County 4-H Beef Club. He showed livestock at the Grange Fair, and was also a member of the Centre Hall Ag Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family, friends, and especially enjoyed being with children, often taking his nieces, and his friend's kids fishing and hunting. He was also active with the Bald Eagle Little League.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p. m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008; at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. Friday, at the funeral home with the Reverend Duane Bardo officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Advent Cemetery in Boggs Township.
