Josey Middleton Paul “Bud” Saverance, II was called home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on May 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born in Charleston, SC on June 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Josey Middleton Paul Saverance, I and Gloria Rush Saverance.
He graduated from Cameron HS, in Cameron, SC in 1959.
He served in the USAF 1960-1965.
He attended Florida State University and the University of Maryland.
He married Marilyn Lee Files at Riverdale United Methodist Church in Riverdale, MD on July 30, 1965.
He retired as an Executive with the US Postal Service after 25 years of service.
He was a long-time member of Bowie Alliance Church in Bowie, MD and later Oakwood PCA in State College, PA.
His lifelong passion was trout fishing. His other activities included singing solos and in choirs in church; following the Washington Redskins and Penn State University Football teams, Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies baseball teams, the University of Maryland basketball team; and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Lee Files Saverance, daughters Aimee (Neil) Crihfield, of York, PA, Michelle (Dan) Klein of White Haven, PA, Allison (Jeremy) Colm of Bellefonte, PA, and son Jonathan (Amy) Saverance, of Winder, GA; 11 grandchildren (Timothy, Zachary, Emilee, Mary Anna, Hanna, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Wesley and Jonathan, Jr.) and 1 great-grandchild, Calvin. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ida Severance Oster of Clinton, TN, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Claude Delos Button, brother Willard Raymond Saverance, brother Henry Josey “H. J.” Saverance, brother Rush Delos “Sonny” Button, sister Mildred “Milly” Button Betsill, and other half- and stepsiblings.
Funeral services are to be held at Haky / Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, State College, PA, on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 2 PM with Rev. Dan Kiehl of Oakwood Presbyterian Church officiating. Graveside service with military honors and interment to follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg, PA, Gentiva Hospice, and the Catholic Daughters of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, for their tender care and mercies.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following charities, in memory of Bud Saverance: The American Legion Post 33, Bellefonte, PA, or the Catholic Daughters of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Bellefonte, PA.
