In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Powell, whom she married on January 26, 1941, her daughter, Wanda “Bobbie” R. Shores who passed on January 11, 2020, and her great-grandson Joshua E. Goss, who passed on June 27, 2023.

Wanda was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School in 1940 and attended Temple University near Philadelphia for three years. She was a nurse’s aid at Blacks Hospital, became a doctor’s assistant for Edith Bancroft, MD in Burnham, once again a nurse’s aid at Lewistown Hospital, and retired as a dispatcher for the Lewistown Borough Police Dept. Afterwards, she organized in-house nursing for various families.
Wanda loved her nursing abilities and always considered it a priority. She loved crocheting, taking trips, cats and dogs, and dark chocolate. She lovingly took care of her husband at home before his passing in 2010. They were six months shy of having 70 years of married life together.
Committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Juniata Memorial Park in Lewistown with Pastor Vicki Elmer officiating.
