June Ilene Pifer Brown, 79, of State College, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Kissimmee, FL.

She was born June 9, 1935 in Bellefonte; a daughter of the late Victor H. and Ethel M. Borough Pifer

On May 28, 1955 she married David J. Brown who survives at home.

June was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte High School

Mrs. Brown worked at the AAA of Southern Pennsylvania office in State College for many years.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Boalsburg for thirty eight years, where she directed both adult and youth choirs. More recently she was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ at Pine Hall, where she served as organist for many years.

In her words "I absolutely loved my job at AAA because of all the people I knew and met while working there." June's parents had a music store, where she grew up with music as a major part of life and loving it. She cherished getting together with her family to play instruments. Spending time with her family was one of the true joys in her life. A very positive and social person, she also enjoyed the wonderful time she spent with both of her church families. Another highlight in her life was working with her friend Pat Holsopple Ficarra as they compiled and directed many musicals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dee Jaye Behrer (Edward R.) of State College; four sons David V. Brown (Clair) of Bellefonte, Douglas M. Brown of State College, Daren D. Brown (Veronica J.) of Bellefonte, and Dustin E. Brown (Angie) of Howard; seven very special grandchildren, E. Brandon Behrer (Bree) and Jodee Spicer (Zach), J R Brown (Alie) and Nicole E. Brown, Derek M. Fetterolf, and Tayler and Cassidy Brown; four great grandchildren, Jayla Jones, Conner and Brooke Behrer and Jaycee Spicer; one sister, Norma Jean Markle (Samuel) of Bellefonte; one brother, Ronald V. Pifer (Barbara) of State College.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday March 22, 2015 at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 1795 West College Ave., State College, PA, with the Reverend Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the service (approximately 3:00 p. m.) in the fellowship hall of the church. Ennichment will be private at the convenience of the family in the columbarium at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
