Karen Jean Allen's Obituary
Karen Jean Lowery Corrigan Allen, 57, of Port Matilda, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, as a result of complications of Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
She was born April 8, 1950 in Harris Acres, a daughter of the late Sheldon and Beverly Lowery.
Karen will be sadly missed by her husband, Gregory Allen, of Port Matilda and her children; Heather Card of State College, Matthew Corrigan of Arlington, VA and Amy Corrigan of Bellefonte and granddaughters, Angela and Tiffany Card and Mikayla Corrigan. She was a sister to nine other siblings; three brothers, Robert of Conway, SC, Wayne of Port Matilda, and Dale of Bellefonte; six sisters, Carol Puhl of Ontario Canada, Patricia Garrett of Rock Springs, WY, Diana Lowery of Sorento, FL, Debra Brown of Port Matilda, Anita Lowery Doty of State College, and Elena Wiggins of Ahoski, NC.
She was a graduate of State College Area High School with the class of 1968.
Karen started her years of work at the Nittany Lion Inn, sold Avon products, and for fifteen years, worked as an associate for Thrift Drug Company. She also helped to set up the Target Store in State College.
She loved animals; horses and dogs were her favorites, having raised Cocker Spaniels for eighteen years. She especially enjoyed bird watching and baking.
Karen was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses of State College.
Friends will be received from Noon until 1 PM on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services P.C., 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 PM. Burial will then follow at Grays Cemetery in Stormstown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the SPCA, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828, or to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 602, Pittsburgh, PA 15235; or to The American Institute for Cancer Research, Washington, DC 20070-2012
