Karen L. Hunter (Cheeks), 65, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 26, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born May 25, 1951, in Somerset, PA. A daughter of Virginia (Kreiter) Hunter.and the late Millard Hunter.The family moved to Harrisburg in 1967, where she attended Central Dauphin High School, graduate of 1969.

For many years, Karen work for Karns food in the meat department. After moving to Lewisberry, she worked at Munchkin Meadow Preschool. She loved working with the children, where she got the nick name Kar Kar.

Along with her mother Virginia, she is survived by two sisters, Linda Browand (Blaine) of Lewisberry, Carol Transue (Scott) of Lebanon; two brothers, Jay Hunter (Carol) of Harrisburg, Scott Hunter of Harrisburg and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 3, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at The Red Land Valley Church, 3555 Lewisberry Rd., York Haven, PA 17370, with Pastor Brian Willison, and The Reverend Betty Norford officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
