Katherine Louise Lykens, 95, of State College, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
She was born August 17, 1919, near Scotia, Patton Twp. Centre County; a daughter of the late Harry B. and Roxanna Dick Lykens.
She attended what was the Port Matilda High School. Katherine was employed by Sears in the Nittany Mall in both sales and clerical work, retiring in 1981.
Earlier in life she was an active member of Park Forest Baptist Church and later in life was associated with the Oakwood Presbyterian Church in State College.
Among the things she enjoyed most were playing the organ, knitting, and traveling. She also was a volunteer with Way Truth Life Radio (WTLR) State College.
Surviving her are several nieces and nephews including Gregory Lykens who has assisted with her care in recent months.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Wallace; three brothers, Samuel, George, and Dude Lykens.
Friends will be received from 10-11a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow immediately at 11a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Houston officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Oakwood Presbyterian Church, 1865 Waddle Road, State College, PA 16803.
