Kathleen Sullivan Mourant, 92, of State College, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Centre Care. She was the widow of Paul Rene Mourant who preceded her in death in 1970.

Born October 11, 1933, in Lafayette, IN, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Schrass) Sullivan. The family moved to State College in 1938.

Kathleen was a 1951 graduate of State College High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics (1957) and her Master of Science from the College of Human Development (1969) from Penn State University. She worked as a research assistant and assistant director in the Materials Research Laboratory and was the managing editor for two scientific journals.

Kathleen loved traveling the world and had visited Europe, India, Africa and Japan. She was a lifetime member of The Gourmet Club and enjoyed playing bridge.

Surviving are her son, Richard Mourant; daughters, Renee Hartnett (Tom) and Paula Farson (Dave); brother, Richard Sullivan (Elaine); sister, Elisabeth Bradford; 4 grandchildren, Joe Hartnett, Callie Brown (Matt), Forrest Farson (Skylar), and Ellis Farson; 2 great-grandchildren, Gemma and Penny Brown; and a nephew, Joseph Sullivan (Renee).

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Stephen Mourant, a grandson, Paul Hartnett; and a sister, Patricia Sullivan.

Services will be held at a later date during nice weather.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Centre Care for their help and kindness in caring for Kathleen.
