Obituary

Kathryn L. Hommel, 79, of State College, PA; died Monday, March 1, 2004, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was born October 27, 1924 near Spring Mills PA, the daughter of the late James Samuel and Sara Anna Tressler Slack Reish.
On October 16, 1941 she married Grant Palmer Hommel who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1984.
Mrs. Hommel graduated from Centre Hall-Potter High School and from a beauty school in Altoona.
After receiving her beautician's license in 1956, she worked at the Vogue Salon in State College. In 1961 she open her own beauty shop in her home and continued to operate it until her last illness.
She as a member of Park Forest Village United Methodist Church, State College.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting and traveling.
Mrs. Hommel is survived by a son Michael R. Hommel and his wife Nancy of Pine Grove Mills, a daughter in law Sally Hommel, and an ex daughter in law Helen Knepp; one brother Harold Reish of Lebanon; 5 grandchildren, Pamela Jo Osborne of Tipton, Brian Hommel of Reading, James M. Hommel of Tyrone, Amy Dixon of Tyrone, and Judi Ann Carlin of Fleming; and 7 great grandchildren, Emily, Brandon and Adam Osborne, Isabella Hommel, Geard Dixon, and Travis and Elizabeth Carlin.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son James T. Hommel on April 29, 1997 and 5 brothers, Donald Dean, James and George Reish and George and Kenneth Slack.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 4, from noon to 1:30 p. m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Funeral services will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel at 1:30 p. m. with the Rev. M. Lee Ellenberger officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Forest Village United Methodist Church, 1833 Park Forest Ave., State College, PA 16801, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
