Kathryn Joan Wells, 71, of Houserville, died Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the Hearthside Nursing Center in State College.
She was born June 25, 1936, in State College, a daughter of the late T. Boyd Way and Kathryn Kephart Way.
On January 28, 1955, she married Thomas Rider who preceded her in death. Togehter they had four children; three daughters, Lynne Cashner and her husband Harry of Aaronsburg, Laura Straw and her husband Dan of Mel Bourne, FL, and Lisa Knepp and her husband Ray of Brookville, PA; one son Thomas P. Rider and his wife Paulette of rural Bellefonte; one brother, Thomas Barry Way of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
On September 11, 1970, she married Frank C. Wells Jr. who survives at home. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by their daugheter, Kathryn Margaret Wells who died in 1973.
Kathryn graduated from State College High School in 1954. She was employed as a cake decorator for Riverside and BiLo Foods, a position she held until her retirement. Mrs. Wells was a member of Milesburg Assembly of God, and enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles and crocheting.
Friends will be received from 9:00 a. m until 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow at 10:00 a. m. with the Rev. Bill Smith, pastor of Milesburg Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be at Center County Memorial Park, State College, PA
