State College resident, Kenneth Hunter, died on January 19, 2008. He was born in Millom, Cumberland, England on August 3, 1921 to the late Isabella Brown and Thomas Hunter. His father immigrated to United States in 1929. Kenneth followed his father to this country with his mother & sister in1934. In 1942 he joined the United States Army in the 95th Division, 358th Field Artillery battalion. On July 10, 1945, he married at her family home in Dimmock Township, PA, the former Angeline Place, who survives at home. He graduated in 1938 from Woodrow Wilson HS in Middletown, CT and then in 1949 from Penn State with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He went to work for the American Bridge Company in Elmira and returned to Penn State in 1950 where he was an Associate Professor in Continuing Education, as well as in Civil Engineering until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Chi Epsilon National Civil Engineering Honor Society, The American Society of Civil Engineers, The American Society of Engineering Education, and The Society of Land Surveyors. In addition to his wife, Angeline, he is survived by his children Jacqueline and her husband Gary Coble of Dubois, PA, and Suzanne and her husband Thomas Park of Tyrone, PA. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Bradley Woodfill. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Ken Bradley and wife Brooke, Sharon Bradley, Gwendolyn Coble, Heather Guerrero and husband Dan, Kristi Park, Nicole Bradley, Teresa Coble and Abigail Christine and husband Troy. Surviving also are Kenneth's five great grandchildren: Kenneth Guerrero, Matthew Guerrero, Tate Bradley, Aliyah Guerrero and Ava Bradley. In addition he is survived by his only sister, Joan, and her husband James Wheeler of Niantic, CT. Some of his greatest sources of pleasure were his volunteer work with the Centre Community Hospital Emergency Room and the Centre County Library Pennsylvania Room. Additional volunteer commitments included St. Paul's United Methodist Church benevolence treasurer, Girl Scouts, and the Centre County Genealogical Society newsletter editor. Family was the center of Kenneth's life. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather who loved sharing in all the family activities and adventures, he enjoyed yearly reunions at Treasure Lake. Traveling to see friends and family, as well as the beauty of mountains and oceans in CT, TX, AZ, CA and Great Britain, gave him great joy. While at home he enjoyed reading, puzzles, stamp collecting, computers and other technology. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church of State College, PA by Dr G. Edwin Zeiders.
