Kermit E. Duttry's Obituary
Kermit E. Duttry, 85, of Millersburg, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Dalmatia, PA to the late Samuel C. and Mary (Enders) Duttry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Hoy) Duttry to whom he was married for nearly 50 years.
Kermit served our country as a PFC in the U.S Army; 45th Recon Battalion at Ft Clayton, Panama during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.
Kermit was a retired auto/truck mechanic and gas transport driver. After retiring he continued to help others as a Meals on Wheels volunteer. He also liked to help out his close friends and neighbors with their household repairs since he was an avid handyman who loved fixing things.
He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Millersburg. Kermit loved going bowling and spending time with his family. With his love for bowling he celebrated his 80th birthday by bowling a few games with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Harris and husband Ken of Etters, PA; two grandsons, Bryan Harris and wife Lindsay of Ruckersville, VA, Doug Harris of Clinton, WA; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Madison Harris both of Ruckersville; along with a sister, Dorothy Phillips, of Millersburg. In addition to his family, he is survived by a special friend and next door neighbor of 60 years, Yvette Shrawder who always said that 'he was like her big brother'.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 23, 2015, from 1:00-1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 235 Center St., Millersburg. The service will immediately follow with Pastor John Miller officiating.
Following the service, burial will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens, 3776 Peters Mountain Rd., Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 1500 Paxton St., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
