Larry S. Briner, 80, of Port Matilda, died on Friday, May 20, 2011 at his residence.
Born August 20, 1930, in Frostburg, MD he was a son of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Brown) Briner.
On September 28, 1983, he married Susan Hammond who survives at home.
He was a graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, MD and attended Penn Military College for two years. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and also served in the Merchant Marines.
Larry worked for Boeing Aircraft in Parts Logistics for twenty years, and owned and operated Briner's Automotive in Port Matilda. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 212, in Tyrone and a member of the American Legion Post 536, in Port Matilda. He especially enjoyed hunting and restoring old cars.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Janine M. Briner of Ridley Park, PA, and Kristen Briner (Rob Scully)of Newark, DE; two sons, Stefan L. Briner (Jessica) of Julian and Mark R. Briner (Nichole Mills) of Port Matilda (Mark formerly served in the US Navy to follow in his father's footsteps); and three grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah and Cody; he is also survived by his faithful companion Max.
