Obituary

Laura K. Bloom, 96, of Pine Grove Mills, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
She was born July 5, 1908 in State College, a daughter of the late George and Ida Messmer Brown.
On December 12, 1925 she married Robert W. Bloom who preceded her in death on July 21, 1976.
Laura attended State College and Pleasant View Schools.
She was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. She also taught classes in china painting and operated Laura's China Shop in Pine Grove Mills.
Mrs. Bloom especially enjoyed painting china, oil painting and sewing.
She is survived one daughter, Helen C. Knepp of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Donald R. Bloom of rural Port Matilda and Robert W. Bloom of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, including Heidi and Tracy who were directly involved in caring for Mrs. Bloom; and 9 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Richard E. Bloom and by two sisters, Bess Brown and Mary E. Richards, and a brother, Charles Brown. She was the last of her generation.
Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p. m. Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the former Kyper Funeral Home, now Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, P. C. 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the committal service also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the S. P. C. A., 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828, or to a charity of the donors choice.
