Obituary

Linda May (Davidson) Lewis, 86, of State College, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026. A native of Greensburg, PA, Linda was the daughter of the late Wilbert Davidson and Margaret (McCartney) Davidson.

Linda graduated with an associate’s degree from Westminster College, where she met her beloved husband, Gilbert L. “Gib” Lewis. Gib and Linda were married on August 27, 1960. Their devoted 62-year marriage ended with Gib’s passing on April 1, 2023.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Lewis (Nan) of California, Scott Lewis (Lan) of State College, and Bruce Lewis (Robin) of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Alex, Atheana, and Christopher; and her sister, Joan Stallard (Wayland) of Washington, D.C. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Sandra Frederick (Albert).

Gib and Linda settled in Butler, PA, where Linda worked as a paraprofessional for the Butler School District, working with elementary and special needs children. Linda retired in 2000, and she and Gib moved to State College to be closer to their grandchildren. She loved children and volunteered at Houserville Elementary School and Sunday school at Grays Woods Church. She also tirelessly made Jared Boxes for hospitalized children for many years.

Linda cherished her children and grandchildren deeply, loving them with immense and unwavering devotion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Linda also had a deep and abiding faith in God and attended Grays Woods Church in State College and was a past member of North Street Christian Church in Butler.

A Celebration of Life honoring Linda at Grays Woods Church will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made in Linda’s memory to PAWS of Centre County, 1901 Trout Rd., State College, PA 16801.
