Linda Ellen Panik, 63, of Mingoville, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her residence.
Born on September 17, 1948 in Bellefonte, she is a daughter of the late Harold Earl Sr. and Eleanor Elizabeth (Martin) Gentzel.
On May 17, 1969, she was married to Martin Anthony Panik, who survives at home.
She was a graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School.
Mrs. Panik was employed as a United States Postmaster, retiring after 25 years of service from the Mingoville Post Office.
Along with her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Martina Lyne-Anna Stanley and her husband Nicholas B. Stanley of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Judy Reese of Bellefonte and Shirley Beck of Steubenville, OH; one brother, Harold Gentzel Jr. of Bellefonte; and four grandchildren, Andrew Jonas, Laylana Lynelle, Ayden Nicholas, and Austin Anthony.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lt. Jonas Martin Panik, USNR, on September 11, 2001, where he was killed during terrorist attacks on the Pentagon.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, beginning at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte with Father Neil Dadey officiating. Interment will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
