Lois "Lucy" Schindler Steiner, 82, of Milesburg, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clearfield.
Born September 11, 1928, in Milesburg, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Gladys (Peters) Schindler.
On January 22, 1944, she married John W. "Bill" Steiner, who preceded her in death on May 22, 1992.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Sandy Ridge, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1600 in Bellefonte, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Milesburg Unit # 0893.
Lucy was a waitress at the former Myers Restaurant in State College. She was also a bartender at the former Pier 53, the American Legions of Milesburg and Bellefonte, the Bellefonte VFW, and Stover's Bar in Milesburg.
She is survived by three sisters: Elizabeth Davies, Connie Swabb and Edna Price and three brothers; Robert, John and Russell Schindler.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Richard, Henry, Arthur and George Schindler.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 5:30 p. m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A memorial service will follow immediately at 5:30 p. m. at the funeral home with pastor Mark Thumma officiating.
