Luther L. Brooks, 79, of Bellefonte, went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 1, 2008. Born at home in Bellefonte on April 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances K Meyers Brooks.
On July 18, 1948, he married Violet Marie Weaver who preceded him in death on January 24, 1998. On November 13, 1999, he married Peggy R. Ripka who survives at home. He attended Bellefonte Area schools and was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church.
Luke farmed for approximately 20 years, and then drove truck for R.W. Bird Trucking and Webb's SuperGro Products. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family at camp.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Thomas (Valerie) of Pittsburgh, Terry (Sissy) of Howard, Wayne (Donna) of Zion, Dale (Denise) of Bellefonte; one daughter, Cheryl (Clark) Keeler of Copperas Cove, TX; one brother, Harold; three sisters, Dorothy Smith, Eleanor Barnett, and Audrey Clouser; two stepsons, Donald (Kim) Ripka, Russell (Sunny) Ripka; three stepdaughters, Barbara Fetzer of Denton, TX, Gail (Roy) Stewart of Bellefonte and Nancy (Bob) LaRocca of Bristow, VA; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson and one great grandson.
Friends will be received from 9:30 a. m. to 11:00 a. m., Friday, December 5, 2008, at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main St., Pleasant Gap, PA. A memorial service will follow at the church at 11:00 a. m. with the Reverend Thomas Osiff and the Reverend Carl Hill officiating.
