Obituary

Lynn W. "Hawk" Miller, 92, a visitation will be held on Wednesday October 5 from 6-8 PM and Thursday October 6 from 9 AM until time of service at 10 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall, PA 16828 with The Reverend Rebecca Horn officiating. Burial will follow at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall.

Mr. Miller was born in Potter Township, Centre County on March 3, 1924 to Clarence T. and Mary Wagner Miller. A resident of Centre Hall borough since 1959, he passed away October 1, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Hawk served 23½ years as an officer with the State College Police Dept; He retired in 1990. During his lifetime, he also worked as a farmer, a carpenter, foreman for the Pa. Dept. of Transportation and a policeman at the annual Granger's Fair. He also hauled livestock and peas. He served as constable of Centre Hall for six years.

Lynn was a charter member of the Centre Hall Ambulance Club. He was the oldest active member of the Centre Hall Fire Company, he served as chief for at least seven years and was an active member for 59 years. Other memberships included the Centre Hall Businessmen and Farmers Assoc., the Red Buck Hunting Club, the State Fireman's Assoc., the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the National Rifle Assoc. (where he served as Rifle Range Instructor for Youth), the North American Hunting Club, the Central District Fireman's Assoc. and the Rock Run III Assoc.

His wife of 22 years, Mae L. Lannen died in 1967. He married Katherine Litz McKinley in 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine; three daughters, Judy (Alvin) Spotts of Centre Hall, Peggy (the late Joe) Perlongo of Spring Mills and Bonnie (Sam) Fultz of Milroy; six step children, Rick (Jean) McKinley of Julian, Ray (Leisa) McKinley of Bellefonte, Kathy (Lane) Hoover of Kansas City, MO, Robert (Beth) McKinley of Julian, Carol (Lynn) Ghaner of Milesburg and Rosa (Mel) Tressler of Julian; one sister, Alta Harter of Webster, NY; one brother, Guy C. (Essie) Miller of State College; 19 grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Mae, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Barger and a sister Evelyn Sharer.
