Jeanne Miceli of State College passed from this life on October 1, 2013 at Brookline at The Fairways. Jeanne was born in Kane Pennsylvania to Floyd and Maude Edgett. She was the youngest of four children.

Jeanne attended Kane High School and led a very active social life; it was here that she met her future husband, Charles Miceli. However, World War II separated them as Charles headed overseas with the Army Air Corp to serve as a bomber and tail gunner. Jeanne also contributed to the war effort, working at the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation helping to build Hellcat Navy fighter planes. Jeanne and Charlie were the true definition of the "Greatest Generation."

After the war, Jeanne and Charlie were reunited and danced their way through the Big Band Era. Jeanne began a career with the Bell Telephone Company and worked her way up to management while Charlie worked with his family's grocery business in Kane, PA. They married on October 1, 1955 and moved to State College, PA a few years later.

Charlie began his career in automobile sales, and he and Jeanne started family life. When her son, Jeff, was born, Jeanne became a full- time mom. Once Jeff entered middle school, Jeanne re-entered the workforce accepting a position with the State College Area School District. She thoroughly enjoyed her work in the Library Media Center at the State College Intermediate School for over thirty years. Always the independent woman, Jeanne grew with the technology and moved from overhead projectors and movie reels to computers and DVDs. She kept current, surprising district administration when, at nearly 80, she embraced email and new technology.

She retired to care for her husband, and devoted herself to his care until he passed in 2007. She remained independent and lived in her home until the past year when illness forced her to move to Brookline at The Fairways. Although her body was failing her, Jeanne's mind was strong. She continuously amazed family, friends and caregivers with her memory and wit.

Jeanne and Charlie Miceli were active grandparents and Penn State fans. Their home--and their kitchen--were always open and ready for family and friends for football weekends, Arts Festival and holidays. They had a busy and happy life in State College for over fifty years.

Jeanne is survived by her son Jeff Miceli, granddaughter, Meghan Miceli; daughter-in-law Jackie Miceli; nieces, Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Taylor Custer, Cathy Hanks Thomas and Renee Miceli; and nephews, Nick Hanks, Jack, Dan and Jay Infield and Curt Miceli.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Maude Edgett, one brother, Charles Edgett and two sisters, Elizabeth Edgett Hanks and Hazel Edgett Taylor.

Friends may join the family for remembrances at Heintzelman Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Sunday October 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 8th at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801
