Margaret (Peg) Ann Smith, 89, of State College, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was born November 12, 1916 in Conemaugh, a daughter of the late William and Abbie Meeker Reese.
She was married to Melvin M. Smith who survives at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
Mrs. Smith worked at clothing stores including Mr. Charles, the Juliet Shop and the Katz. She also worked at Buttorff's Shoe Store and later at Kelly's Shoes.
She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in State College.
Peg was an avid reader, and enjoyed making candles and playing cards.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter Rebecca A. Connelly of Boalsburg; a son, Glenn A. Smith of State College; six grandchildren, Gary Waite of Boalsburg, Margo Zubler of Millheim, Terry and Greg Smith both of TX, LeeAnn Turner of OK, and Matt Dashem of State College; and six great grandchildren, Brett and Haley Zubler, Keith Smith, Chance and Cody Smith and Shawn Greene.
Her parents, a son Donald R. Smith, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Faith United Church of Christ, 300 E. College Ave. State College, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Diane Prosser officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the services in the fellowship hall of the church.
Burial will be private at the convenince of the family at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
