Margaret Watkins, formerly Margaret Lucille Wert Trauger of Bellefonte, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Centre Crest Nursing Center in Bellefonte. Daughter of the late Claude and Lily Frank Wert, she was born July 2, 1919, in Tusseyville. Prior to Centre Crest, Margaret lived in the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Four siblings, predeceased her, Philip, Luther, Kathryn and Cyrus. Of the Claude E. Wert family, one brother, Dean E. Wert and his wife Dorothy of Quarryville, PA survives.
Surviving Margaret are one daughter, Barbara A. Trauger Maslow and her husband William of Neenah, Wi, and two sons, Harry M. Trauger, Jr. of Mechanicsburg and his wife Connie Trauger of Millheim, and Howard A. Trauger and his wife Shirley A. Trauger of Philadelphia, PA.
Peg attended school in Boalsburg and in 1939, married Harry Martin Trauger, Sr., who preceded her in death. Beginning in 1950, Peg was employed in the Printing Department of Penn State University. Always with a cheery hello to all, after 27 years, she retired in 1977. In 1978, she married Charles Watkins who also preceded her in death.
In retirement, Peg enjoyed her cats, her Nittany Lions, embroidering and her Mets. Her days were brightened with friends and family and when any of her 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren visited.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a. m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 North Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, with The Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Friends will be received in the fellowhip hall of the church immediately following the memorial service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
