Maria Cristina Diaz, 86, of State College, died peacefully Friday, March 31, 2006 after receiving her last rites at the Hearthside Nursing Home.
She was born on April 3, 1919 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Rufino and Maria delaO Diaz.
She has lived in State College for the last 25 years with her husband Virgilio Diaz who survives.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Lourdes Diaz Soto of State College; eight grandchildren, Deane G. Soto of State College, Maria Ponton of Myrtle Beach, Daniel E. Soto of Ann Arbor, Mich., Tamara Diaz of Port Matilda, Theodore, Karen, Keith, and Bruce Diaz Jr. all of New York; three great grandchildren, Joey, Johnny, and Tony Ponton of Myrtle Beach; two daughters in law, Theodora Diaz of Port Matilda and Sally Diaz of New York; and a former son in law, Dennis Soto-Medina of San German, Puerto Rico.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:30 AM, Monday, April 3,2006 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM, with Father George I. Jakopac officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hearthside Nursing Home, attention to the nurses of Hearthside, 450 Waupelani Dr., State College, PA 16801.
