Marian E. Smith, 90, of the Oaks at Pleasant Gap, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at the Oaks.
She was born February 18, 1914 in Potter Township, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Mary Cora Hazel Smith.
She was a 1932 graduate of Centre Hall-Potter High School. She went on to graduate from Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1936. She spent most of her life in Philadelphia, working as a registered nurse in hospitals, and for many years in physicians private practices. Following her retirement, at age 65, she was active working as a volunteer a with the Jefferson Alumni Association.
Marian was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall and the Jefferson School of Nursing Alumni Association.
She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and enjoyed knitting.
She is survived by two sisters, E. Gladys Burkholder and Roberta A. Breon both of Centre Hall and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Sarah H. Luse and 9 half brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, November 5, 2004, at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA; with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
Friends will be received in the James Ash Fellowship Hall of Grace United Methodist Church, immediately following the memorial and burial services.
