Marie E. Cassady, 89, of State College, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Hearthside Nursing Home, State College.

She was born May 24, 1926, in Arcadia, FL a daughter of the late Mack and Ethel (Newbern) Kersey. On November 3, 1943, she married Leon Cassady who preceded her in death on December 23, 2006.

Marie was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pleasant Gap.

She belonged to several organizations, they included the Logan Grange, Pleasant Gap woman's Club, Lioness Club, Eastern Star, and the Pleasant Gap Fire Company. She was very involved in the community.

She enjoyed going on bus trips to watch plays, cooking, and working in her flower garden. During the winter season, she and her husband traveled to Florida to visit family. She also enjoyed camping at the Centre County Grange Fair.

Surviving Marie are two sons, Harold (Sandra) Cassady of PA Furnace, Edward R. (Fern) Cassady of Apopka, FL; one sister, Iona Williams of FL; five grandchildren, Jason (Beth), Christy, Adam, Joey, Sarah; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Bradley, Claude, James, Ed, and Maxy.

Friends and Family will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral & Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801; the service will follow with Pastor Sarah Kim officiating. Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
