Marietta H. Dugan, 84, of State College and Centre Hall, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
She was born July 22, 1924, in Mahaffey, PA, a daughter of the late Guy L. and Elsie Neveling Hoover. Marietta was raised by her aunt and uncle the late Michael S. and Mary E. Neveling Durandetto.
On January 5, 1943, in Hagerstown, MD, she married Alfred L. Dugan who preceded her in death on December 6, 2007.
Mrs. Dugan worked as a governess and a homemaker all of her life, and while raising her children she was active in little league activities in the State College area.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marietta is survived by three daughters; Rebecca Lee Dugan Elensky and her husband Francis of Curwensville, Kay Eileen Dugan Hauser and her husband Ray of Snow Shoe and Cynthia Ann Dugan Barker of Aaronsburg; two sons; Michael David Dugan and his wife Kim of Evans City, and Robert Allen Dugan and his wife Amy of Port Matilda; seven grandchildren: Lisa Clark, Eric Elensky, Tara Mullaney, Glenn and Lynn Barker and Matthew and Hunter Dugan; seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Merrill Barker.
Friends will be received from noon to 2:00 p.m, Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. K.R. Mele officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
