Obituary

Marjorie (Marge) D. Schirm, formerly of Hackettstown, NJ and most recently of Centre Hall, PA, passed away at home with her family by her side on Friday, February 20, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David M. Schirm; her daughter, Julie B. Schirm (John); and her brother, Robert Dalzell (Barbara).

Marge was born in Montclair, NJ, to C. William and Frances Dalzell. She was a graduate of Garden City High School in Garden City, NY and Syracuse University. Marge was passionate about education and taught Home Economics at Lindenhurst Jr. High School in Lindenhurst, NY and at West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ. She attended the Katherine Gibbs School of Business, which led to a new career working at AT&T in Bedminster, NJ, from which she retired.

Marge was an avid gardener who appreciated beautiful plants and flowers, a dedicated Sudoku puzzle solver, a strategic Bridge player, and a lover of music and theatre. She also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed creating colorful cross-stitch pieces. Marge loved experiencing new places and meeting new people. She was always interested in learning about others' experiences and cherished her family and close friends. Her truly kind heart, relentless positive attitude, and love for life is missed already.

The family thanks the many doctors, nurses and caregivers who made her comfortable and were truly interested in her well-being as she bravely battled cancer. A celebration of her life will be held in Centre Hall, PA in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her name to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033, or to the charity of your choice supporting the fight against and cure of cancer. An online guest book can be signed or condolences sent to the family at www.heintzelmanfuneralhome.com.
