Marlin Eugene Snyder, 81, of Centre Hall, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, October 8, 2007. He passed away peacefully at his home near Centre Hall.
He was born September 26, 1926, in Green City, FL, a son of the late Keller and Orfa Walker Snyder.
On June 9, 1946, he married Evelyn F. Snyder who preceded him in death on March 8, 2004. On November 6, 2004, he married Mildred C. Reed Puff who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rodney E. Snyder and his wife Susan E. of Hartleton, and Jeffrey L. Snyder and his wife Susan J. of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren, Bethany, Jennifer, Tom and Eric Snyder and his wife Heather; four great grandchildren, Savannah, Samuel and Lucy Snyder, and Ethan Thone; and one sister Susan Knepp of State College. He is also survived by his step family including two step daughters, Thiry J. Kocher and her husband Paul, and Sonia E. Stover, both of Centre Hall; three step sons, George R. Puff, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Rick L. Puff and his wife Diane, and Dennis G. Puff and his wife Cindy, all of Centre Hall; thirteen step grandchildren, and seventeen step great grandchildren.
Mr. Snyder served in the U. S. Army with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, having served in Germany and Japan.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, in Aaronsburg; a member of and past president of the Centre Hall Lions Club, and a member and officer in the Pennsylvania Builders Association. He was a life member of the V. F. W. at Pine Grove Mills; and held memberships in the American Legion in Centre Hall, the Liberty Township Sportsman's Association, and the Family Campers and RVer's Association.
Marlin's life craft was bricklaying. He worked as a mason for fifty years and had his own business for many of those years. He loved the craft of masonry and the beauty of his craft can be seen in dozens of buildings in the State College area.
Marlin lived life to the fullest!! He never wasted one minute. His motto was, "Hey, I'm going to enjoy everything life has to offer."
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 3:30 p. m. Sunday, October 14, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The memorial service will follow immediately at 3:30 p. m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Faith McCausland officiating. Burial will private be at the convenience of the family at Woodward Cemetery, Woodward, PA.
