Martha Hoover Everhart, 80, of State College, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, PA.
She was born September 14, 1926 in Yatesboro, PA, to the late Lynn and Alice Morrow Hoover.
On Dec. 6, 1947 she married Harry E. Everhart Jr. who survives at home. She graduated from the Phillipsburg State Hospital School of Nursing as an RN. She was the first full time nurse for the Penn State Athletic Department and worked with its first full time physician, Dr. Griess. She worked at the Penn State team physician's office for more than 30 years.
Always the consummate professional, she loved providing care for the student athletes and administrating the office efficiently for the physicians she assisted.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sister, Mary Lynn Sykes, of Ridgeway; a daughter Leslie Rosenberg and her husband Ed of Bryant Pond, ME; and son Daniel Everhart and his wife Linda of Howard City, MI; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service PC., 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
