Martha N. Schreckengast, 92, of Bellefonte, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
She was born September 17, 1915, in Windber, a daughter of the late Bert M. and Anna (Lawton) Newpher.
In 1940, Martha was married to Clifford N. Schreckengast, who passed away in 1974.
Mrs. Schreckengast is survived by one son, Martin C. Schreckengast of Bellefonte; one sister, Ruth N. Fisher of Lebanon, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Louise N. Taylor.
She was a graduate from the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1937 and was employed at the Centre Community Hospital, now the Mount Nittany Medical Center, for 34 years retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association, Lewistown Hospital Alumni Association, and other nursing organizations. She was also a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellefonte.
There will be no viewing and Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Centre County Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 216 N. McAllister St., Bellefonte, with the Reverend Barry Folmar officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service from 10 to 11 AM.
