Martha Anne Vesper Obituary
Martha Anne Vesper, of Boalsburg, passed away on August 12, 2007, at home after having had numerous strokes and complications. She was born in Hanover, PA on March 24, 1927, daughter of the late Frank L. Ziegler and Hilda Bender.
Martha attended Thiel College from 1946 to 1948, prior to her marriage to Carl A. Vesper on December 25, 1948. She was a tutor and tutor-trainer for Lauback Literacy for many years, a volunteer at Schlow Library, and later worked at Pattee Library for over ten years.
Family was very important to Martha and she especially loved her grandchildren. She passed on her love of music and reading to her children. She collected special books by authors that she read many times and also wrote short stories and poems for her own enjoyment. Martha also participated in many activities at her church, Zion Lutheran Church of Boalsburg, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frank Ziegler, and a sister, Jane Dubs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children and nine grandchildren: a son Carl A. Vesper III and his wife Cindy and daughter Elizabeth; twin daughters, Carol J. Green and her husband Robert and their two children, Christopher and Emily; Shirley J. Smith and her husband Joe Brenkosh and their two children, James and Daniel; a son, Andrew F. Vesper and his wife Janet and their two sons, Gregory and Matthew; and a daughter, Dorothy J. Vesper and her husband Michael Perone and his two children, Nicholas and Nora. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Heintzelman Funeral Home, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Boalsburg, PA, with Pastor Brent Book officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Boalsburg, PA.
