Mary Ida (Bennett) Crater, 96, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024. She was born January 19, 1928 in Runville, PA to the late Frank W. and Grace M. (Kline) Bennett. Mary was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She married Eugene D. Crater and the union was blessed with three sons.

Mary was a woman of unwavering faith who devoted her life to her family and helping others. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was part of the Ladies Sewing Group, a member of the YMCA, a life member of the Logan Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for 30 years. She also volunteered at Centre Crest Nursing Home.

Along with her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Crater; daughter-in-law, Barbara Crater; grandsons, Douglass Crater and Carl Crater, Jr.; brothers, Frank and Robert Bennett and sisters, Emma Westfall and Phyllis High. She is survived by her sons, Carl E. Crater, Sr. of Howard, PA, Elwood D. Crater (Rose) of Julian, PA and Robert F. Crater of Spring Mills, PA; six grandchildren, Heather Daughenbaugh, Brian Crater, Nick Crater, Kathryn Crater, Autumn Crater and Joshua Crater; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10:00am - 12:00pm followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm, Pastor William Osman officiating, at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike State College, PA 16801. Interment will be private.
