Mary F. Tier, 74, of State College, and Centre Hall, died Monday, February 2, 2015; at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.
She was born March 19, 1940; in Clearfield; a daughter of the late Kathryn Dixon.
Mary graduated from Sandy Township High School and was employed for many years at Penn State University as a staff assistant in the Housing and Food Service division.
Mrs. Tier was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall, and formerly a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte where she was active in the Faith Center Thrift Store. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society. Earlier in life she was a Girl Scout Leader. Mary loved crocheting, gardening, and working with flowers; and loved anything Victorian; but family was most important in her life, and she cherished time with her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Renee` Shuey (David) of Madisonburg and Sonnia L. Stitzer (Samuel) of Centre Hall; six grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one sister Phyllis Myers of Bellefonte.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Richard Dixon, Geraldine Springer and Thomas Young.
Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 am Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Grace United Methodist Church 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a. m. at the church, with the Reverend Mark Messner officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery W. Church St. Centre Hall.
