Mary Patricia "Pat" Sawchuk, was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, wife, and friend. Pat passed away peacefully at home  on September 30,2023 at the age of 96.

She was born to David and Lois Mitchell on September 11, 1927 in Champaign,  Illinois. They later came to Pennsylvania when her father started to work at Penn  State University. She went to State College Area High School and was known for  being a renowned drum majorette. During her married life, she lived in several  states with her family – Michigan, Texas, New Jersey, New Mexico, and  Pennsylvania. She had three children, David, Lois, and Tim. They were the love of  her life. Since Tim was a special needs child, she had to spend extra time to love  and care for him throughout her life. She was born in a generation where women  stayed home to take care of and raise their children, and that is what she did.

She did not start working until later in her life. She worked for Pennsylvania  Recreation and Park for many years and retired at the age of 86 in 2013. In retirement she enjoyed making jewelry, collecting coins, visiting antique shops and keeping up with family.
She is survived by her daughter Lois (Craig) and son David (Wanli) and five grandchildren – Derek, Kayla, Anya, Alex, Joseph and two great-grandchildren – Audrina, Vincent. and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00am on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the  Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Inurnment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
