Mary E. Spicer, 81, of State College, died Monday, September 29, 2003 at Centre Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Union Twp., she was a daughter of the late Harry A. and Anna L. Young Lucas.
In the 1940's she was married to Clarence E. Hoy who preceded her in death. On October 10, 1953 she married Donald E. Spicer, who survives at the University Park Nursing Center in State College.
She attended Bellfonte schools.
She was a homemaker who worked at the former Penn High Boy Restaurant in State College and later at the Simmons Dining Hall at Penn State University.
She was a member of Colyer Brethren in Christ Church.
Reading and embroidery were two of her favorite hobbies.
She is survived by three sons, Dean A. Hoy of Atloona, Thomas L. Hoy of Harrisburg, and David E. Spicer of Schenectady, NY; a sister Eleanor Rumbarger of Baltimore MD; six grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by a son Barry Hoy; two sisters, Dorothy Hassinger and Anna Lucas; and two brothers, Kenneth and Joseph Lucas.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p. m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA The funeral will be at 1 p. m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell L. Smucker officiating.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery.
