Obituary

Mildred Mae Kratzer Thomas Kuhns, 74, of Rural Millmont, formerly of Beavertown, Watsontown, and Mifflinburg, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg, PA.
She was born January 10, 1930, in Lewistown, PA, a daughter of the late William and Florence Sanders Kratzer.
On April 25, 1947, she married Clarence H. Thomas, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1997. On October 5, 2002, she married Ralph A. Kuhns who survives at home.
Early in life she assisted on the family farm, and through the years had worked various jobs. Most of her life, she was a homemaker who cared for more than 20 foster children in her home, and was affectionately known as "Gram" to many other children.
Mrs. Kuhns attended Millmont God's Missionary Church and while living in Watsontown was a member of Spring Garden God's Missionary Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a youth leader.
She was an accomplished seamstress having created several wedding gowns. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed crocheting, and gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Marlene A. Heintzelman and her husband Mark, and their daughter, Mirinda, of Centre Hall, PA; one son, The Rev. Dr. Paul E. Thomas and his wife, Susan, of North East, Maryland; and their children, Daniel, Beverly, Sandra, and LaDonna; six great- grandchildren; one sister, Frona Rothermel and her husband, Mark, of rural Middleburg, one half-sister, Susanne Miller of Columbus, Indiana; four step-children, Faye J. Kaler of Rural Millmont, Edna M. Smith of Rural Middleburg, Clair A. Kuhns of Rural Millmont, and Darlene M. Sholly of Rural Middleburg; seven step-grandchildren, and 12 step-great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Thomas, and a son, David Thomas.
Friends will be received from 3 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Millmont God's Missionary Church, Route 45, Millmont, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at the church, with the Rev. Paul W. Clough officiating. Burial will be in the Beavertown God's Missionary Church Cemetery, Rural Beavertown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millmont God's Missionary Church, 14515 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, PA 17845 or to North Central Sight Services, 142 W. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
