Nancy Ford, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away early morning March 7 surrounded by family. She was born March 10, 1933, in Spring Township to the late Robert C. Barnhart and Grace McClellan Barnhart. She spent some time in the US Navy in San Diego, California where she met and married Danny R. Ford in Yuma, Arizona on November 30, 1952. Nancy and Dan lived in Long Beach, California, for many years and then moved back to Bellefonte. She was employed for almost 30 years by C-Cor Electronics of State College and retired in 1996 as a Supervisor. During her life, Nancy enjoyed helping family and friends during times of need. She was also a lifelong blood donor for the American Red Cross, donating many gallons of blood. She will be remembered for having a true compassion for animals and always taking care of disabled and elderly dogs.
Nancy is survived by her husband Danny and son, Danny R. Ford II (wife Ruth Ann) of Spring Branch, TX. Also surviving are four siblings: two sisters, Bobbi B. Roth (husband Greg), and Roni B. Gillespie (husband Marty), both of Pennsylvania Furnace, and two brothers, Jon P. Barnhart (wife Tressa) of Hublersburg, and Gerald F. Barnhart (wife Janice) of Julian, as well as various cousins, nieces, and nephews. After cremation, she will rest in the mausoleum at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in honor of Nancy to two organizations which were close to her heart: Centre County PAWs (1401 Trout Road State College, PA 16801) or to St. Jude Children's Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105). A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
