Nidia A. Sharer, 96, of Boalsburg, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte, PA.
She was born January 25, 1908 in Snow Shoe, PA, a daughter of the late Elmer and Nancy E. Markley Watson.
On September 4, 1932 she married Bruce W. Sharer who preceded her in death in 1978.
Mrs. Sharer was a homemaker who earlier in life worked in housing at Penn State University, worked as a seamstress at William's Dry Cleaning of Boalsburg, at the match factory in Bellefonte and very early in life she and some friends moved to and worked in Washington DC.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg and attended Centre Community Church of Christ. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Boalsburg Fire Company and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Mrs. Sharer especially enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by a daughter Barbara Yingling of Boalsburg and a son Larry Sharer and his wife Janet of Shiremanstown, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, LeAnn Marshall and her husband Emery of Centre Hall, Larry Yingling and his wife Kathy of State College, Tana Lingo and her husband Kerry of Waverly Hill, GA, Daren Yingling and his wife Lennis of Syracuse, Utah, Scott Sharer and his wife Marisa of Greensboro, NC and Corinne Flemming and her husband Shane of Mechanicsburg, PA; and 18 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 7 - 9 p. m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Mark D. Heintzelman funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p. m. Wed. Aug. 25, 2004 at the funeral home with Dr. Scott Lenhart officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery, State College.
