Obituary: Norman Spiro
Norman Spiro, aged 90, of Pleasant Gap, PA died Wednesday March 9th, 2005 in his home.
Born in the East Village neighborhood of New York City, he was the son of Sam and Rose Spiro. He was an electrical engineer, most recently for Gould Ocean Systems, and formerly for N.A.S.A. He had been a long time member of the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Centre County.
Norman was active in several organizations dealing with the environment and with the concerns of the elderly. He was a lover of all types of music and an accomplished jazz and classical pianist. He was an avid reader and bridge player.
He is survived by his son, Mark Spiro and his wife Lolita of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Linda S., wife of Kenneth R. Herman of Hopewell Junction, NY; Four grandchildren, Joseph Spiro, Joshua Spiro, Tyler Herman, and Dylan Herman. He is predeceased in death by his sister, Gertrude.
Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sierra Club or The Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Centre County, PA.
