Obituary

Norman D. Walters, 82, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, January 8,2006 at Centre Crest Nursing Home.
He was born February 21,1923 in Tipton to the late John Wellington and Eva Mae Walker Walters.
On December 31,1942 in Baltimore he married Ellen Grove who survives at home.
He graduated from State College Area High School in 1940 and from Lincoln Mechanics School in Tyrone in 1941.
He worked at Penn State University for 30 years retiring as supervisor of Dairy Barns.
He attended the Valley View United Methodist Church. He was past president of the PA Association of Retired State Employees, past president of Senior Citizens Club of Bellefonte, past advisor of the Centre County Young Patrons of Husbandry, State Treasurer of YMCA Sr. Citizens, a member of the Logan Grange #109, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Professional Volunteer of Centre County, and a volunteer of the Food Pantry. He received the Dairyman of the Year award in 1983 from the Penn State Dairy Club.
He enjoyed camping at the Grange Fair, working with people, gardening, family reunions, picnics and his dog Lady.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Thelma Jean Brodzina of Warriors Mark, Janet Elaine Houser and her husband Ronald of Bellefonte, Doris Mae Wilson and her husband John of Tyrone, Ruth Ellen Vonada and her husband Dale of Spring Mills; three sons, James Allen of Crescent City,FL, Daniel William of Bellefonte, John Edward and his wife Mary of Julian; a sister, Marie Marcella Cherry of Tipton; sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step mother, Rhoda M. Deters Walters; three infants, Jerry Lee, Donna Marie and Carl Philip; three brothers, Dan, Dick and Clair.
A visitation will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 11 and from 10:30 to 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12,2006 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12,2006 at the funeral home with Rev's. Robert Ludrowsky and Duane Bardo officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Valley View Church, 1438 Buffalo Run Rd., Bellefonte, PA 16823 or to the Fillmore Food Pantry, 126 Apple St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
