Normenia Rosella Sowers, 85, of Alexandria, AL, a native and resident of Centre County, Pennsylvania, for most of her life, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston, AL.
She was born July 22, 1925 in Lemont, a daughter of the late George and Isador Williams Fike.
Mrs. Sowers was a homemaker for whom family was always her priority. She was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, helping to raise some of them and spending as much time with them as she could.
Surviving her are two daughters, Barbara Hubbard and her husband Walter and Judy Manko and her husband Harry all of New Castle, Delaware; two sons Larry Sowers and his wife Rebecca of Centre Hall, and William Sowers of Alexandria, AL; one step daughter Patricia Sowers Carter; a step son Henry Sowers; a daughter in law Jolene Sowers: a son in law Robert Guiser; 23 grandchildren, 25 great Grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
Normenia experienced several losses in her lifetime. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Clair Sowers and John Sowers, two infant children Mary Jane and Phillip Sowers, a daughter Anita Sowers who was only 10 years old, at the time of her death; a daughter Rosey Guiser, and a son John Sowers.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 10:30 a. m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the funeral home with the Pastor William Kovacic officiating. Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
