IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ok-Hi
Lee
August 27, 1930 – August 20, 2025
Ok-Hi Lee, 94, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at The Village at Penn State, where she had resided in her later years. She previously lived in Park Hills on Cherry Hill Road South.
Born in Seoul, Korea on August 27, 1930, Ok-Hi was the fifth of six children in a loving family that included three brothers and two sisters. Despite the hardships of growing up during the Japanese occupation of Korea, she remembered her childhood as a happy and vibrant time.
After the Korean War Armistice, Ok-Hi came to the United States on a scholarship to the National College of Education in Evanston, IL (now National Louis University), where she majored in Art Education, and pursued her passion for the visual arts. Her academic journey led her to Penn State University, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts in 1969, working in abstract painting and ceramics. She later served as the registrar at the Palmer Museum of Art, with a special focus on Asian art, a role in which she combined her love of art with her dedication to education and preservation.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hai-Sup Lee.
Ok-Hi is survived by her three sons and their wives: Kyu-Woong & Nancy Lee, Kyu-Ho & Kim Lee, and Kyu-Tae & Angela Lee; her cherished grandchildren: Cameron and Preston Lee, Eleanor and Henry Lee, and Harrison Lee; her sister and brother-in-law, Seun Hi & Insuk Yang; and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at The Village at Penn State on Saturday, September 20th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Guests are kindly asked to carpool, as parking is limited, and to enter at the blue awning.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palmer Museum of Art ( https://raise.psu.edu/PennStateArboretum .
Arrangements were entrusted to the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences left for the family at www.hakygeorgianafh.com
