Pamela S. Gerber, 62, of State College, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Fairways at Brookline Village in State College.
She was born June 13, 1946, in Plainfield, NJ, a daughter of Harold and Carol L. Henry Sweet of State College.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Gerber is survived by a daughter Dana S. Carra and her husband Rick of State College, a son Ryan M. Gerber and his wife Tri Huynh of Raleigh, NC; a grandson Estyn Gerber; two brothers, Richard A. and his fiance Sally of San Marcos, CA and Jeffrey A. and his wife Debbie of Lansdale, PA; and three nephews Alan, Russell and Neil.
Pamela graduated from State College High School in 1964, attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated from Penn State with a liberal arts degree. Later she completed course work for a master's degree in counselor education.
From October 1988, until April 30, 2007, she worked with the police department at Penn State University as a Victim Rights Advocate. She was previously employed by Centre County MH-MR as a caseworker and crisis intervention worker.
A person of varied interests, Pam enjoyed wildlife, nature, and gardening. She loved animals and had many beloved cats through the years. She also enjoyed arts, crafts, and needlework, and was an avid reader especially enjoying English Mystery Novels.
At her request all services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
