Paul E. Ishler, 89, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
He was born May 17, 1924 in Jacksonville, PA, a son of the late Martin Luther and Laura Louise Sampsell Ishler.
October 21, 1950, he married Thelma Ripka Ishler who preceded him in death on March 11, 1985.
Paul was a 1942 graduate of Howard High School.
He was employed as a furniture delivery person for Wolf Furniture for many years, and later in life worked at the Howard Nursery. Early in life he also worked on farms, and loved life on the farm.
Mr. Ishler enjoyed attending and camping at Grange Fair, and the Nittany Antique Machinery Show; and had an avid interest in and knowledge of older John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed attending local baseball games, but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving Mr. Ishler are four children Faye A. Dunklebarger (Gary), Nancy S. Muth (Edward), Edwin P. Ishler (Nancy) and Ricky L. Ishler all of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren, Bryan Dunklebarger (Patty), Shelley Miller (Ken), Edwin Ishler, Scott Ishler (Lisa), Crystal Smith (Kris), Daniel Ishler (Shannon), Jennifer Tice (Timothy) and Steven Muth; ten great grandchildren; and one sister Geraldine Stroup of Altoona.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Bonnie Ishler; a great granddaughter Payton Tice; and six siblings Thelma Dunkle and Lila, Stella, Wilbur, Theodore and Ralph Ishler.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:30 a. m. at the Funeral Home with Deacon Alex Dyakiw officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery.
