Obituary

REVEREND PAUL KAY MERRYMAN, SR., 63, of Bridgeport, OH died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. He was born May 6, 1942 in Phillipsburg, PA, the son of the late Reverend Benjamin Merryman and Della Croft Merryman. Reverend Merryman was the pastor of the Bridgeport First United Methodist Church. He was called to do the Lord's work at 10 ½ years old and came to be known as the "Boy Preacher". Reverend Merryman began a lengthy broadcasting career at the early age of 16 when he started his first Southern Gospel radio station. He will lovingly be remembered to many dear friends as "Doc". Reverend Merryman is survived by his wife Nancy Blide Merryman; two sons Paul Kay Merryman, Jr. of Newark, Ohio and Stephen Merryman of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter Kandice Brown of Indiana; three stepchildren Jessica Roark of London, KY, and Rebecca and Sarah Judge both of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, as well as several grandchildren.
Visition will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, OH. The Funeral will be held Wednesday, at 10:30 a. m. at the Bridgeport First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wanda Wilson officiating. Friends will be received from 5-8 p. m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA and from 10-11 a. m. Friday at the Woodycrest United Methodist Church, 219 W. Clearview Ave. State College, PA. The Funeral will at 11:00 a. m. at the church. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
