Pearl Viola Barger, 92, of Fairways at Brookline since 2004, formerly of Brush Valley passed into eternal rest on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Fairways.
Born July 21, 1918 on the family farm in Brush Valley she was the daughter of Clarence and Viola (Tressler) Musser.
On September 20, 1952 in the flower garden on the family farm she married Walter L. Barger who preceded her in death on July 20, 2004.
She graduated from the Gregg Township Vocational School in Spring Mills and spent her life helping on the family farm. She loved working in her flower garden and animals especially cats.
She was a life member of the St. Johns Union Church, Farmers Mills where she taught Sunday school and played the piano.
Pearl was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She has many surviving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Fisher (Russell) and Mary Foster (Dr. John).
She continually expressed her grateful thanks to the staff at The Fairways and to her caregivers niece Marcile Tressler (Don) and nephew Barry Fisher (Patti).
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral service will follow immediately at 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Nathan Pile officiating. A graveside service and burial will be at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St. Centre Hall, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Employees Fund at the Fairways, 1950 Cliffside Dr. State College, PA 16801.
