Philbert Harold Gill, 68, of State College, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
He was born on February 18, 1940 in State College, a son of Philbert L. Gill Sr. of State College and the late Maude A. (Gearhart) Gill.
Phil married Rosemary Slokevich on April 17, 1971, who predeceased him on November 16, 2007.
Phil was a graduate of Lock Haven University and was the Physical Education Teacher at State College School District for over 40 years where he established the Honors Physical Education Program. He was also a football coach at State High.
He is survived by two sons, Philbert L. Gill, II and his wife Tess and their children Melinda, Philbert Harold II, Thomas, and Elisabeth of Fredericksburg, VA; Torae V. Gill and his wife Kelli and their children Brayden and Amylee Rose Gill of Altoona; two daughters, Sheri L. Kendle and her husband Joseph and their children Jonah and Benjamin; and Laurie L. Gill of State College and her children Courtnie, Katie and Brittnee; one brother V. Michael Gill and his wife Joanne of New Haven, CT.
Family will receive friends on Friday (TODAY), December 12, 2008 from 6 - 9 PM at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2008 with Reverend Douglas Milliner officiating. Entombment will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
