Phyllis J. Boone, 72, of rural Spring Mills, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Hershey Medical Center at Hershey, PA.
She was born November 1, 1934 in Williamsport, a daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy Louise Ebner Shemory.
Phyllis graduated from Williamsport High School in 1952.
On December 21, 1953, she married Daniel L. Boone who survives at home.
She was a dedicated homemaker, who after raising her children worked at Penn State University, retiring as a secretary in the College of Liberal Arts in 1995.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Kim L. Auman and her husband Mike of Clearfield; two sons, Richard L. Boone and his wife Judy of Spring Mills, and Scott P. Boone and his wife Lesa also of Spring Mills; six grandchildren, Brooke Jodon of Spring Mills, Timothy, Curtis and Mark Auman, all of Clearfield, and Tyler and Kelsey Boone both of Spring Mills; and a brother, Richard G. Shemory of Oakland, CA.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jeremy Boone.
Mrs. Boone was a member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir and served on the social concerns committee.
Among the things she enjoyed were gardening, especially working with flowers, and cooking.
Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main St., Pleasant Gap, PA. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Osif officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the memorial fund at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main St., Pleasant Gap, PA 16823 or to the American Cancer Society Hope lodge, 125 Lucy Ave., Hummelstown, PA 17036.
